Where our information comes from

Every word list on this site is checked word by word against at least two independent published sources, such as a state education department, a school district, a university literacy center or Reading Rockets, and the counts are enforced when the site is built: a Dolch level with the wrong number of words stops the build. The words marked as in the app come straight from the app's own data file. The review ledger lives in the repository as WORD-LISTS-REVIEW.md.

How we use AI

AI may help draft the explanations around each list. The lists themselves are never generated: they are transcribed from sources and verified before a page becomes indexable.

What this site and the app are

A practice tool and a reference, written for parents and teachers. Neither assesses a child's reading, diagnoses a difficulty, or replaces a teacher, and nothing here promises an outcome. Schools choose their own word lists, so your child's teacher is the right source for what they are expected to know.

Which words the app teaches

The app's 94 staged words follow the order of the UK Letters and Sounds high-frequency word phases 2 to 5, and its 95 nouns are the Dolch noun list. It does not contain the full Dolch or Fry lists. On every list page, the count of words that are in the app is computed from the app's data, not estimated.
